Antenatal Class

The main aim of the antenatal class is to ease any worries or anxieties and provide you with knowledge so you can make informed decisions. The class is completely personalised to your needs and birth preferences. We cover multiple topics which are guided by you such as: signs of labour, when to go to the hospital, pain relief options, positions in labour, birth when things don't go as planned, early postpartum, baby feeding, role of the partner, relationship changes and mental health wellbeing. Only one couple is booked per day, allowing for flexibility with times and for you to ask as many questions, class roughly runs for 4hrs. You will also be provided with a 'What to Pack' checklist for your hospital bag and uBirth Birth Plan template. Following the class you'll have access to ongoing educatonal support and correspondence via email with me, as sometimes you might need a little bit extra help.

Birth Plan Preparation Class

This class can be booked either as a stand alone class (2hrs) or add on to your antenatal class (1.5hrs). During the class, we sit together and build on the knowledge, either gained in the uBirth antenatal class or perhaps a different course you've done and really focus on what's important for you and/or your partner. Also if this isn't your first pregnancy, we can build on your previous and prepare your birth plan based on that. Is having a water birth something you would really like? Or are dimmed lights something that helps you feel relaxed and would you like that option? You will be provided with uBirth Birth Plan template, where on one side you can tick your labour, birth and postpartum preferences. On the reverse side there's free text where you can write about your journey so far and anything extra you'd like. Ultimately it's YOUR birth plan and you can write as much or little as you want.

Afterwards you should feel more confident and prepared for what's to come. About uBirth

Hi, I'm Sandra.

I'm a Registered Midwife and International Board Certified Lactation Consultant. Originally from Ireland, where I obtained my B.Sc in Midwifery from University College Dublin in 2017 but I've been calling Sydney home since early 2020. I've been working as a midwife predominantly on birthing unit, with shorter periods on antenatal and postnatal wards. During my career I've practiced in both public and private hospitals, where I've gained a broad range of experience in caring & supporting labouring women and helping them with transition into motherhood.

I'm extremely passionate about education and I feel like it's one of the best ways to empower women. I started uBirth while completing my masters degree in midwifery, specialising in clinical education. That's when I found my true calling, educating women outside of hospital walls and uBirth was 'born'. Since then, uBirth has grown! Now being able to provide an ultimate antenatal education bundle for expecting mums, providing you with the knowledge and confidence for labour, birth and beyond.

I can't wait to meet you and go onto this beautiful journey with you,

Your midwife,

Sandra.

What Our Clients Say...

Sandra was so thorough and clear

We recently had Sandra come to our house for a private class following a recommendation from our midwife. Sandra was so thorough and clear in the information she provided to us, which she had tailored to our specific needs. We had plenty of time and space to ask any questions we needed. We both feel much more prepared and well informed thanks to Sandra.

Sarah

Pamela

Sandra took the time to answer our questions

Sandra ran a phenomenal private class for my husband and I. We love that it was very informative and evidence-based. Sandra took the time to answer our questions in a detailed manner and tailored the class to us. After the session, I left feeling more relaxed about the labour process. Would highly recommend Sandra's antenatal class to any first time mum!
